Meet Amanda
With a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and over a decade of experience helping couples and individuals, Amanda brings both expertise and heart to her work at Nashville Relationship Experts.
Since 2014, Amanda has focused her private practice on helping clients navigate the complexities of long-term relationships—particularly those impacted by emotional disconnection, infidelity, communication breakdowns, and major life transitions.
Her ongoing research into the core components of healthy, lasting relationships—as well as the subtle, often overlooked factors that lead to their breakdown—drives her highly personalized, insight-driven coaching style.
In 2023, Amanda joined professional forces with her husband, Michael May, forming a one-of-a-kind husband-wife coaching team based in Middle Tennessee. Together, they help couples heal from crisis, rebuild trust, and strengthen their foundation for a fulfilling relationship.
Amanda frequently works with clients on concerns including: emotional disconnection, resentment, infidelity and affairs, diminished romantic intimacy and desire, family and stepfamily dynamics, communication issues, and deciding whether to stay or leave a relationship.
Clients often describe Amanda’s sessions as safe, energizing, and deeply clarifying—and many refer friends and family members after working with her. Amanda also provides one-on-one coaching for women navigating personal growth, relational clarity, and life transitions. Her passion for helping others grow, reconnect, and thrive is what fuels her every day.
Meet Michael
With 30 years of military service and over two decades in state government leadership, Michael brings a powerful and compassionate presence to Nashville Relationship Experts.
After retiring as Deputy Executive Director for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency in 2021—and later as State Command Chief for the Indiana Air National Guard in 2022—Michael transitioned into the work he now shares with his wife, Amanda. Drawn to her impactful work with couples and the evident need for specialized guidance in marriages facing infidelity, crisis, and disconnection, he joined her in creating a unique husband-wife coaching team based in Middle Tennessee.
Michael’s experience supporting individuals in high-stress, crisis environments, paired with extensive leadership and mentoring training, forms the backbone of his emotionally intelligent, results-driven coaching approach. He works with both couples and individuals, bringing clarity, confidence, and practical guidance to those navigating relational pain, conflict, or life transitions.
In addition to couples coaching, Michael is widely sought after for his one-on-one coaching with men, providing a rare combination of empathy, strength, and insight. His work with male clients often centers on issues such as emotional regulation, communication, leadership stress, identity, sexual intimacy, relational clarity, performance pressure, work-life integration, and navigating transitions in purpose or masculinity. He also offers executive and leadership coaching for senior-level professionals, military leaders, entrepreneurs, and agency heads—helping them navigate career demands, stress, and life balance, especially in high-responsibility roles.
His transformative coaching has been called a “game changer” by clients, and his deep presence and relatable style make him a trusted guide for those ready to grow, heal, and rebuild.
Our Story
In the year 2008, in a cozy Nashville jazz bar restaurant, two people met for the first time.
That dinner turned into a seven-hour date, and the beginning of the beginning.
Every day, week, season to follow, these two hearts would intertwine with one another,
find home and make home together.
Wedding breezes blew in 2010, off the coast of a glistening Caribbean island.
The stage was set for perfection.
But as we know, life is not perfect.
Our relationship has been filled with joy and closeness,
from the first few dates and beyond.
And yet, we've also weathered a couple storms.
Quite treacherous ones, that could have ended our marriage,
and probably would end a marriage for some people.
But we weren't some people.
We were us and we were determined to find and re-find our path to one another.
We learned to lean in, to be vulnerable, to be present, to be real. We learned to see deeply. Not just into ourselves. That's the natural tendency. We learned to see deeply into each other.
Every marriage is comprised of two unique, imperfect people.
This is why every marriage is not without challenges.
Some days those challenges are the tiniest of mole hills.
Still other times, the issues are a staggering mountain, that at first glance, seems impossible.
We passionately feel our love and life together wouldn't have been possible
if we'd given up when the storms came.
Our relationship is absolutely worth the journey.
Through our collective experience and growth,
we've gained an understanding and wisdom we never had before.
Our hope and desire are to be the experienced,
compassionate guides for couples that we wish we'd had along the way.
We'd be honored to join with you on your journey,
no matter what walls or obstacles you're up against.
We think a lifetime of love is worth it.
